Gabrielle's Life and Writings

Gabrielle Lawson, writer of Fanfiction. I will use this space to keep a journal about my writing, the progress I'm making, stories I'm working on, writer's blocks I'm having, our adoption process and progress and just life in general.

I'm multifaceted and highly educated. I have a BA in History and an MA in Museum Studies. But I couldn't make a living in a museum, so my hobby--computers--became my living. I'm now a charter member Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician. I aspire to be a professional writer and/or poet. I am a Christian and have been living by His grace for the last four years or so, despite the MegaStress and now the GigaStress. He keeps me going, and displays His glory still, in my life.

Well, I'm moved!

And to make me feel better about that awful "review", I received two really good, juicy (craft-mentioning) reviews from someone else. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Yep, I'm moved, and my house is full of boxes. One room is so full, you can hardly walk in it. Weeks of fun unpacking to look foward to...after I get back from Europe.

I leave for Europe on Friday, so you won't hear from me for awhile after that, I think.

When is a Review not a Review?

When it's offensive trolling, that's when. I received this "review" today:

-------------------

Gabrielle Lawson,

The following review has been submitted to: Faith, Part I: Hope Chapter: 5

From: jacqueline8 (http://www.fanfiction.net/profile.php?userid=381749)

Hello how about some incest here!

What're you people? wuzzes! FAGGOTS!

I WANT INCEST!

If you want you can have me as a character where my daddy spanks me!

I can even give you pics ;)

I have reported this person to the authorities at ff.net and have blocked her from leaving anymore reviews. I've asked the authorities to remove that review as I can't, because she signed in. Of course, because she's signed in, she can be tracked.

Chapter 15 Progress, but not recently

I did write more of Chapter 15 and I'd written myself into a corner until Sunday night. I needed a way to get a message to Formenos and couldn't figure out how to do it. Enter Section 31. Problem solved.

However, I probably won't be writing for awhile. I am closing on my house in about two hours, and I'm moving into it this weekend. Then I'm going to Europe a week later. I'm hoping I'll find some writing time there.

I get back to the States on the 20th of October, so you may not hear from me until then.

Yep, I'm done with Chapter 14

I started writing the beginning of Chapter 15, but realized it belonged on the end of 14 so I moved it, but now I'm on 15 and I'm already two scenes in. It might be just one more chapter after this one. Or it might be two. We'll just have to see.

Once again, it's been awhile

Well, I did say I might not update much this month. I still have lot of packing to do. Actually, I still have everything I had in my list last time still to do. Kind of scary.

But anyway, I did write! While I was sitting at the dentist's mostly. I might have finished the chapter. But I might have extended the story by a chapter as well. Or not. We'll just have to wait and see.

Status of Stories Update

    Status of Stories
  • Faith, Part III I might be finished with Chapter 14 (4th chapter).
  • The Honored This one hasn't gone anywhere in awhile, but it will when I finish Faith. 1 1/2 chapters written, a big scene near the end.
  • The Hardest Thing still awaiting an appropriate ending.

Oops! It's been a long time

Sorry about that. I think I actually forgot I have a blog. And that might not be all that surprising. In fact, in the next month or two, I probably won't update this blog that often. You see, September is the month to 1) pack my apartment, 2) plan my trip to Europe, 3) Get estimates for repairing my car, 4) get a couple fillings 5) take my cat to the vet (one of them had to have stitches!), 6) take my new kitten to the vet, 7) close on my house, and 8) move into said house. All that while working full-time, attending two Bible studies, and choir practice once a week!

So, am I writing? Well, yes, in tiny, tiny spurts. So I've finished with the Riker scene and moving on with Formenos. I'd like to really progress in her plot. I need to sit down again and map the next chapter and this one and see how far, time-wise, I need to get in this one before I go to the next. Formenos sabotage might be the best thing to end a chapter, but it's still two nights out. I don't know if I can extend this chapter that far. And if I don't get that far, it won't be the end of a chapter, but a beginning of one.
